So we are featuring a few of them in this week's Newsletter. And H2 members do keep uploading your very best images. They are great to see. This week we have a club evening based on images that members have produced since our workshop on layers and masks. It will be very interesting to see what members have created using the skills of using layers and masks. It would seem that the year of lockdown has allowed him the time to concentrate on this passion of his. He is an Olympus camera user and fully utilises its advanced focus-stacking facility - taking 50 or even 60 separate images to get front-to-back sharpness, achieving phenomenally sharp, quality images. Obviously a consummate entomologist, knowing the names (including the Latin names) of the many indigenous insects he photographs. Weevils are certainly a speciality for Andy. He is an advocate of utilising whatever is available to rest his camera on, if his tripod is not available, (although he uses a tripod when it is available). He will also happily use his home environment to store pupating species in readiness for photographing the final metamorphosis into adulthood.   Thank you, Andy - a brilliant talk   Walking the Dog by Marie King Coming Soon - Affinity Workshops Our Affinity workshops will commence on Zoom on Monday 19 April at 11am.  They are designed to last no longer than an hour. Below we have shown what the first lesson will cover - the basics, er, basically. Over the following weeks we will build on these basics. The big advantage with them being live on Zoom is that members can ask questions as they learn.   Please note, this is for H2 members only   It's all about the shoes by Stephen Mason Summer's On The Horizon Well there is good news...and there is less-good news: The less-good news is that our club virtual season concludes in June. But do not despair dear H2 member because the good news is we are planning practical sessions during the long, sunny & warm Thursday evenings in July & August. Our plans are obviously subject to Government restrictions still trundling down their "one-way road out of lockdown", but we are hoping that we can meet in person by then. Greg is the official photographer at BAFTA with thirty year's experience at producing newsworthy images.   Take a look at his website here   The Mono Challenge This challenge is designed to stretch our creativity using the various photographic manipulation software. Well, it's certainly doing that. Just take a look at the examples on our club Flickr page - there are some are real flights of fancy. We have chosen three colour images (RAW) which you can download here. The only rule to this assignment is that the finished image must be in black & white. With regard to interpretation, manipulation and the way each image is portrayed, the rules are: there are no rules . Apart from: the final image must be in Mono We will be having a club evening on Thursday 6 May to critique members' images and learn what was going through the authors' minds when they created their shots - now that will be interesting!   (Any difficulties with downloading the original images, please contact Chris (Shepherd)) Interested in Joining Us in 2021?
