This Thursday: The Gibberd Garden

This Thursday we are meeting at The Gibberd Garden in Harlow. The garden has an abundance of photographic opportunities with its paths, ponds and sculptures dotted about its bucolic setting.

The gates will be open at 6pm (address etc. below)

Potted History:
Sir Frederick Gibberd was appointed the master-planner for Harlow New Town in 1946 and, although his projects have included Liverpool Catholic Cathedral, Heathrow Airport terminals and the Central Mosque in Regents Park, his original plan for Harlow Town is regarded by many as his greatest achievement.

Sir Frederick bought the Garden in 1957 and he lived here on and off until his death in 1984. During his time he and his second wife commissioned many of the sculptures that can now be seen. On his death he left his house and garden to Harlow Council for the "benefit of the people of Harlow".

Last Thursday: A Virtual Presentation...
...From Israel

Last week H2 had a Zoom presentation by Erez Marom. Erez is an Israeli photographer and describes himself as "a nature photographer concentrating on landscape and wildlife".

His talk was on photographing dynamic landscapes, which he defines as, landscapes that move, develop and change.

His presentation began with stunning images of ice caves from Iceland, Bolivia, Greenland along with several other countries.

He then moved onto his images of the sand & land in the Lofoten Islands off the coast of Norway - elegant "sandscape" images with the aurora borealis enveloping the night sky.

For the final part of his talk, Erez moved onto volcanoes from both Sudan and Iceland. And Hawaii. Again, remarkable images taken from helicopters, drones as well as terra firma.

H2's Exciting New Season Is Coming

In September our new season begins. And our committee have organised an exciting & innovative programme.

It features both face-to-face meetings at the Village Hall (obviously subject to Government regulations - fingers crossed) interspersed with Zoom meetings
