View this email in your browser H2 NEWSLETTER A weekly update for members and friends of H2 Photographic Society   Postbox Hat by Dave Hobbs "Winners From Binners" Judged Texture Competiton Hi Folks, You will remember that at the beginning of October we had an excellent presentation from painter and fine-art photographer, Jane Lazenby, who showed us how she creates textured images: "making winners out of binners", as she put it. We were so impressed with her skills that our H2 Flickr page suddenly bulged with our members' creative texture images. It inspired us to make October as Textures month and then make our images into a competition. Well, this week we have asked Jane to return and judge our texture images. Another of her comments was: "The fear of being wrong is the inhibitor of the creative process. So do not fear failure - embrace it". That sums up H2's philosophy; it will be motivational and encouraging to hear Jane's comments. An excellent and cerebral evening.   Thank you, Chris   Catkins by Geoff Yates THE AUCTION OF DAVID WOODS' BOOKS Can we thank you all again for your positive and generous response to this auction. All-in-all with the donations for the books and the many donations per se, we have raised over £400 for Bowel Cancer UK. Huge thanks. H2 Committee We have received the below letter of thanks from Avril Woods: Dear Paul Thank you so much for keeping in touch with me re David’s books and the silent auction which was organised. Please pass on my grateful thanks to everyone who participated in helping to raise this wonderful sum of money. I’m sure that the charity, Bowel Cancer UK, will be glad to receive it.  I, for one, am glad that other people can make good use of David’s collection of books.  I hope people will find them of great interest.  David had dreams of furthering his photographic knowledge.  He was looking forward to being part of the judging circuit and being able to encourage others and to sharing his knowledge with them.  David enjoyed meeting other people who shared this interest in photography.   It also meant that David was on a continuous learning curve - something which he always liked to do - building up and storing away knowledge.  He is greatly missed by us all. Thank you for your support and for helping me to solve a problem i.e. what to do with all the books!   I hope that you will all be able to get back together again soon, as a club,  in order to support each other in your mutual enjoyment of photography. Please may I take this opportunity to wish all the club members a merry Christmas and good health and happiness for the year ahead. Many thanks once again for all your good work.
