Fighting Kites by John Thompson

1st Place
Welcome to H2

A warm welcome to members and friends of H2

It's arrived! This coming Thursday we will be critiquing our macro and close-up images.

H2 members, do check out our club Flickr page for the latest macro & close-up images that have been uploaded. And, with a few days remaining, do keep them coming...

The subject is open - certainly that includes natural history, but also we can use any object or objects to create a different and ingenious image. The only limit is our imagination.

And this Thursday, we'll have a fun critique evening - we may even use those Zoom 'break-out' rooms - exciting stuff.

Please can we have your entries by 11pm on Tuesday (16th) at the latest. Email them to dpi@h2photo.org.uk with Macro as the subject.

Natural History Competition

With over 50 images to assess, our judge, Ron Tear, had his work cut out this Thursday just gone. Ron is a keen naturalist and his knowledge was plain to hear with his cogent critique of each image. Thank you, Ron.

Please see the full results below; we have put the winning images in this Newsletter and a big thank you to all members who entered their images and congratulations to the winners.

Images For The Much Hadham Parish Magazine

The editor of our local parish magazine has asked if any member has images of Much Hadham in the snow, to grace the front page of the next issue. Time is short, however, the deadline is 15 Feb.

(Images need to be 'portrait' format and in colour. Just pop them up on our H2 Flickr page or email them here, with the subject: Parish Magazine)

Your Flickr Page...

... is a gateway to inspiration and ideas. As we mentioned last week, there are some first-rate galleries (found in the "Explore" drop-down menu) showcasing some outstanding images. One that I've found this week is Excellent Stuff - take a look.

And given our recent club competition, a Flickr page worth a look at is Neil
Hutchinson who combines natural history shots with fine art techniques. Enjoy. Be inspired.

Peter Warne - Wildlife of Copped Hall

Friend of the club, and excellent speaker, Peter Warne is giving a talk on behalf of the Copped Hall Trust.  The talk concerns the wildlife of Copped Hall and the surrounding area with the bulk of the images taken in 2020.

He will be using the webinar facilities by EFDC and their licence allows 100 participants so there should be plenty of room.  We are asking for £5 from each computer seat all of which will go to the restoration fund which like so many good causes needs some swelling after last year.

The talk will be at 7pm on 10th March and last for about an hour. Tickets can be secured on-line through “ticketsource” on our website www.coppedhalltrust.org.uk .
