The Skype's the Limit

Hello from H2 Photographic Society

There's more to Lightroom and that's for sure. Yes, it's an image manipulation programme. But it's much, much more.

Chris (Shepherd) & Jeff (Sinclair) gave fascinating and informative presentations at our club's Skyped virtual meeting last night, explaining how Lightroom can be used to both, manipulate images as well as manage, classify, catalogue and rate (filter) your precious images.
All in a safe, non-destructive environment.

By way of comparison at the end of the evening, Paul (Major) showed members his back-to-basics work-flow approach that he adopts uploading images directly to his computer's hard drive, subsequently using Adobe Bridge to manage and rate them to have them ready to be manipulated in Photoshop or Affinity. Or indeed Lightroom.

Thanks to our presenters

"Winner Stays On" Competition - and the winner is:

Last week's theme was "In the Kitchen" and during last night's meeting, Chris (Shepherd) announced the winner. He certainly had his work cut out to choose from the many creative images that members had uploaded to the H2 Flickr page. As Chris said, there can be only one winner and that is: In the Kitchen 1 by Jo (Cleall); you can see her image above.

As the competition name implies, the winner stays on and Jo has chosen next week's theme as: Bathroom, and she will judge the entries next Thursday to pick the winner. We are looking forward to seeing what our members' creative interpretation make of this week's theme. Members, please entitle your entries "Bathroom" (numbered 1, 2, etc., if entering more than one), and upload them to our H2 Flickr page.

Jeff (Sinclair) came second with his In the Kitchen 1 and Stan (Chippett) came third with his image (bet you can't guess the title...), In the Kitchen 3. Congratulations to those winners; and you can see their images and several of the other entries from last week's competition in this Newsletter.

New Members Welcome

Even in these exceptional times, H2 Photographic Society is providing a hub for local photographers to "meet", exchange ideas and share experiences in their mutual love of Photography. H2 embraces all photographic genres, we are always willing to learn and be open to new ideas. H2 is an inclusive club that genuinely welcomes photographers of all ages, cultures, genders and backgrounds. We embrace all forms of photography both analogue and digital and, as is being conspicuously proved now, we welcome the internet age so we can further leverage photographic training, coaching and sharing of images for the benefit of our members. Photography has, and always will be an art that uses tools of science. There are many and varied ways to approach our photographic ambitions.
However, it is a skill achieved by developing our eye;
practice over purchase, in other words.
Our club's mission is to provide photographic guidance, stimulation and opportunity; we'd love you to join us.
