This Week

This week we have the formalities of our club AGM, the first time we have ever done this virtually so it should be interesting! Each of the committee members with a portfolio will give a quick report as to how things have been going and will answer any questions you have. Then we vote for the new committee, the whole thing shouldn't take long and will be the first time we have ever done this over zoom.

After that Heather will be talking about & demonstrating her audiovisual work. AV is a really interesting variant on just showing your photographs and I am sure it will be of interest to everyone.

Focus Stacking

Last night was a real treat as Dave Hobbs took us through how he does focus stacking. He took us through how he does it all with a simple no-nonsense approach that produced exactly the result he wanted using Affinity. I am sure everyone was inspired to try some stacking themselves and for photoshop users here is video of how to do the same thing.

After the break, Paul took us through how to use multiple exposures to remove people from an image in Affinity. It was really quite informative and an excellent presentation, the more I see of Affinity the more impressed I am with it.

There was a really good buzz about the evening last night and it was good to see the club functioning so well in a virtual environment.

We are running on Zoom

Having received several positive comments from our members about the Zoom video platform, we are now running all our meetings on zoom and the club has invested in a licence for our use.

Personally, I feel that being able to see everyone makes it a much more interactive experience. I hope everyone else feels the same, but if you have any issues, please let the committee know.

"Winner Stays On"

Last week's internal competition theme was "Food". Chosen by Graham Walmer, he then went on to judge the many entries that members had created.

So the results are:

Next week's topic is "Self Portrait", to be judged by Stan. The self portrait should be taken low key in window light only.
