Image Rescue

A big hello from H2 Photographic Society

This coming Thursday we are rescuing members' images. So if you have an image that you are pleased with but it "just needs a little something", or perhaps you can see potential in an image "if only that lamppost wasn't there", then email it to us at dpi@h2photo.org.uk with the subject ImageRescue

Last Week

At last week's meeting, we were treated to two excellent, but very different, presentations. First was an introduction to street photography by Bulent Acar who ran us through his photo-book. Successful street photography takes quick reactions, predictive skills and solid camera-craft - skills that Bulent obviously had in spades. You can see some of his work on Flickr; just search his name.
The second half of the evening was presented by another Richmond & Twickenham PS member, Colin Clarke. Colin showed us his winning entry panel into the Royal Photographic Society's Associateship distinction. His panel's theme was portraits indicating occupations and he informed us of how he set about, firstly planning the panel in great detail and then the (even) harder organising and photographing of his models. Secondly, he explained how the judging went on the day with the adjudicators having to sit 'in camera' to decide on one or two of his panel. He needn't have worried - he achieved his ARPS.

A huge thank you to Bulent & Colin

"Winner Stays On" Competition - and the winner is:

The club's internal competition is going from strength to strength. Last week's theme was "Light & Dark", chosen by Paul (Simpkin), and during last week's meeting, Paul announced the winners. Once again, there were plenty to choose from the many creative images that members had uploaded to the H2 Flickr page, and Paul freely admitted he had a difficult decision in deciding on the winning images. However, making it easy to remember the titles (all were entitled Light & Dark1) in third place was Graham (Woolmer); in second place was John Thompson; and in first place - drum-roll, please, was Warren (Martin). Well done to the winners - their images can be seen above and below.

As before, the winner stays on and Warren has chosen next week's theme as: "Pandemic", and he will judge the entries this coming Thursday to pick the winners. We are looking forward to seeing what our members' creative minds make of this week's theme. Members, please entitle your entries "Pandemic" (numbered 1, 2, etc., if entering more than one), and upload them to our H2 Flickr page. Good luck all.

Questionnaire
Thank you to all the members who have answered the 5-question questionnaire. These really assist your committee to formulate our future programmes and plans. Any member who has not responded, please use this link and complete the questionnaire. Many thanks in advance.

Zoom
We are considering using the Zoom video platform for future meetings but are asking members for their comments. We would be grateful to hear your experiences of using Zoom.

Loughton Duplicate Competition
This competition is a battle between H2 and Loughton Camera Club run every two years. It involves two judged competitions; one at Loughton CC and one at H2. The winner is the club that receives the most points from both competitions.
Loughton's competition is to be held on Wednesday 6 May at 7.30pm and it will be virtual on the Zoom platform. Any member wishing to "attend" the meeting, please contact us on committee@h2photo.org.uk

The H2 competition is on Thursday 14 May at 07.45pm.
