Canon's Turn
Hi from H2 Photographic Society
A couple of weeks ago, members will remember we had a riveting talk by Clare (Harvey-May) from Olympus. Well, this week we have David (Newton) ‘visiting’ our club. David is a Canon guru and a brand ambassador for some of the biggest brands in the imaging industry (Canon, SanDisk, Manfrotto, Lastolite). He will be giving us the benefit of his experience both as a competent photographer and a past technical editor of Canon’s EOS Magazine. As with the Olympus evening, however, there will be plenty to interest the non-Canon users amongst you. Now, we need to see if we can book a Sony ambassador! See you on Thursday.
Last Week
Our thanks go to Chris, who demonstrated how he would "rescue" an image using Lightroom. As at previous meetings, at 8pm we interrupted the session to applaud the key workers. When Chris had finished his talk, Paul & Jeff looked at a couple of images that one of our members, Leslie, had sent in. Paul used Affinity to "rescue" the blocked-up foreground shadow detail from a delightful sunset shot, and then illustrated how cloning, vignetting and sharpening are carried out in Affinity.
After the break, Jeff worked on another of Leslie's shots: an image of the scallop shell statue, located on the beach at Aldeburgh, Suffolk. (As an aside, the statue is the work of local artist, Maggi Hambling, and celebrates the life of the composer, Benjamin Britten.) As so often crops up in our images, Leslie's image had an unwanted person standing behind the statue. Jeff showed us how to use Photoshop to make unwanted people disappear.
Legally, of course :)
Thank you, Chris, Paul and Jeff
