Hello H2 Members

A huge thank you to Heather for her excellent presentation on using Photoshop to create her painterly effect flower images. If you wish to see the recording of the presentation, please click this link.

We have another busy club meeting this week, with two members from Richmond & Twickenham Photographic Society (www.rtps.org.uk) to entertain us. First up is Bulent (Acer) who is a keen street photographer and he will be explaining to us his way of taking this particular genre of photography and showing his images. After the break we've Colin (Clarke) who will run through his portrait images that gained him his Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society distinction (ARPS).

Also, we will have to make time for Paul (Simpkin) to inform us who is the winner of this week's Winner Stays On competition - see below for more details.

As a reminder: at 8pm we will stop to applaud our NHS staff and key workers. And, later we will have a comfort break for 5 minutes or so for obvious reasons - and to refresh our libation, perhaps.

We look forward to "seeing" you all on Thursday evening

Winner Stays On Competition

Already, we have several entries on our H2 Flickr group page, who are hoping to win this week's "Winner Stays On" competition. Members have a couple more days or so to upload their images on the theme of "Light & Dark"; we look forward to seeing their interpretation of this theme. Please entitle your images "Light & Dark", and number them 1, 2, etc., if entering more than one image. You do not need to put your name on them because that will show on Flickr.
This Thursday, Paul will pick the winner. And whoever is the winner, "stays on" and chooses both next week's theme and picks the winner of that competition.

So, get your creative juices flowing...and have your theme ready just in case you are the winner -  we'll need to know what it is for next week's competition.

More (Good) News

This epidemic has had the positive effect that we are now competent with the use of video platforms for communal meetings. That, in turn, has accelerated our plans for tutoring, and we are now able to offer H2 members one-to-one tutorship. This can be on any photographic topic members wish - be it the use of their camera, the best way to print an image or using photo-manipulation software. Just let your committee know what you would like to learn and we will do our best to find you help. Our email address is below.

Also, your committee is working hard to create a programme that will be interesting and exciting. And virtual, obviously. Planned items include demonstrations, speakers and competitions. If you have any ideas, do please let us know if there is anything you would like to see.

Your Club Needs You (2)

Or at least we need your best images, please.

On Wednesday 6 May we have a duplicate competition at Loughton Camera Club. And on Thursday 14 May, H2 will be hosting our half of the duplicate.

This duplicate competition has been fought between our two clubs for 'donkeys' and involves each club entering 24 images. The resulting 48 images are then judged twice, once at Loughton and once at H2. The winner is the club who has the most points from the two judged competitions.

Not putting too finer point on it, we want to win!

So come on members let us see your images. You can upload them to our H2 Flickr page (recommended) or send them to our dedicated DPI email address: dpi@h2photo.org.uk

Star Gazing
For those members interested in astrophotography, there is an above-average chance to see a meteor-shower tonight (Tuesday) and tomorrow night. With clear skies forecast, take a look towards the north-east with your fingers crossed. Several of our members have set their cameras up to catch these celestial phenomena and we have included a couple of their results here. Keep an eye on our H2 Flickr page for more images.
