Trevor Davenport - Nature Far & Near
Hi Folks, welcome to H2
This week we have a talk by Trevor Davenport entitled "Nature Far & Near". Trevor is a British photographer based in the Northwest of England.
Unsurprisingly, Trevor’s nature talk is in two halves: the first half is the 'far' part and he will show us images he has taken at the Yellowstone National Park in the USA. One report on his website states:
"Trevor was often following in the footsteps of Ansel Adams. There were some great wildlife images of Black Vultures, Brown & Grizzly bears (and their poo!), Elke, Coyote, Bobcat, Buffalo, Wolves not forgetting the menacing Moose. Overall Trevor’s images and his passion for Yellowstone were stunning."
In the second half, Trevor will cover images he has taken 'nearer' to home. He will be showing us images from the Sefton Coast, a 12 mile beach between Southport and Waterloo, just North of Liverpool. It is the largest area of sand dunes in England and an area of special scientific interest. Trevor will showcase wildlife, plant life and scenery. Many parts of this area get battered by the weather and Trevor and his team have made it their mission to give back and volunteer to help eradicate invasive species of plant life and where possible help repair areas being battered by the weather.
Trevor is obviously a talented nature, wildlife and landscape photographer, so look forward to an interesting and inspiring evening.

Best and Worst
Last week was a critique session on members abstract, ICM (intentional camera movement) and texture images. Each image was considered carefully with the author detailing how they took it and what they were trying to achieve. Then anyone could comment to say what they thought about each image.
I think this year's Zoom programme has really given every member a chance to push their own creativity, trying new ideas and techniques. Lots of unusual techniques were on show and the feedback members received was really constructive and positive. As per usual with these things, we got through far fewer images than I was expecting because there was so much discussion on each image.
All in all a good evenings entertainment.
Chris

We've Gone Orb Crazy...
After the presentation by Dick Cicone where he showed us how to turn our images into 'Orbs', our members have had an outpouring of creativity, uploading a deluge of cracking images onto our H2 Flickr page. We have shown some examples here but to see all of them, log onto Flickr

Charity Book Auction
As you know, David Woods died earlier this year after a long fight with bowel cancer. His widow, Avril, is now sorting out David's possessions and has kindly asked members if they would like his photographic books.
David was obviously an avid reader and book collector; he had in the region of 60 books, some recent titles and most in really excellent condition.
We have agreed with Avril to hold a book auction with all proceeds going to Bowel Cancer UK. The auction will be held on Thursday 10 December club evening and we will be giving you further information soon, including a list of the books which will be going under the hammer.
Pop the date in your diary for this really good cause
