Trevor Davenport - Nature Far and Near
We had an first-rate presentation on Thursday; excellent images, informative and even the occasional (bad) joke :)
First up (the 'far' bit) was his visits to Yellowstone National Park, 3400 square miles of glorious wilderness in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. Trevor stated that he is not a landscape photographer - his images said something different.
The second half (the 'near' bit) was Sefton beach and dunes, one of our national nature reserves to the North of Liverpool. Trevor is lucky enough to live close by and gave us a fast-talking, erudite presentation.
Using his Nikon equipment (oh well, no one's perfect...other brands are available), he showed us images of the area's flora and fauna - the rare natterjack toad, Europe’s loudest amphibian. Red squirrels are occasionally seen amongst the reserve’s pine forests too, while sand lizards, great-crested newts and a fantastic variety of orchids and other wildflowers can also be found here; he knows his botany and entomology, does Trevor.
As Heather said at the end, "We'll be having him back again"
She's right, you know
