Welcome to this Members-only Newsletter

The Windmill Challenge Trophy

Hello H2ers,
I have a success announce!

Last night I attended Upminster Camera Club for their above annual competition. H2 were one of six local clubs to be invited to compete.

Each club enters 2 mono prints; 2 colour prints and 4 DPIs and I have included all our entires in this newsletter along with their scores.

This year the independent judge was Vic Hainsworth from Colchester PS.
Calm Waters by Marie King
(scored 20 as a DPI)
The 24 prints were judged first and at that time we were "holding our own" in amongst the pack.

But then our DPI images started to push to the front...read on
Time Traveller by Paul Tatman
(scored 19 as a DPI)
As each of our DPIs were judged I took great pride as I heard the judge say those magic words, "I'll hold that one back"...
A Street Corner by Chris Shepherd
(scored 19 as a DPI)
By the time he'd completed judging the 24 images, all four of our DPIs had been held back...
The Shard Across the Thames by Jeff Sinclair
(scored 18 as a print)
I held my breath as he scored the held-back images and was delighted to be able to record two 20s and two 19s.

However, there was another surprise in store...do read on
Summer Fair by Dave Hobbs
(scored 17 as a print)
When he was asked to award the Best DPI of the competition, he chose Marie's image entitled Innocence without hesitation...
Jug and Fruits by Jo Cleall
(scored 16 as a print)
The scores were given and H2 had scored 144 coming third behind Loughton and Upminster. I happily noted that there was only 10 points between the winner and us...
Storm Over Southwold by Chris Shepherd
(scored 16 as a print)
Well Done, Marie...

...and well done H2 Members. Given the closeness between the top three, it was our print scores that made the difference. On the positive, our club is now pushing forward with internal print competitions with the four league competitions and the Tony Perryman monochrome print competition.

And any of these images can then go on to win our coveted Print of the Year, meaning that the best of our best will be available for next season's external competitions.

So a successful night for our club and burgeoning signs that we are improving our club photography - let's keep it up H2ers
