This Week: Garden Wildlife Photography

We have a talk (on zoom) from friend of the club and Olympus Mentor - Roger Hance FRPS AFIAP DPAGB BPE5* and members, friends and visitors are welcome to join us on the link below.

Those of you who have been lucky enough to have been at one of Roger's talks when we were at Harlow will know we are in for a good time. Roger is not only a master with the camera his talks are always of outstanding quality. As you can tell I have really been looking forward to this one.

Photographing Wildlife in your Garden

This is a new talk that I put together primarily as a zoom presentation. Most of the images in this talk were taken during the initial lockdown of the Spring of 2020. 85% of all the images were taken in my own garden, with the remaining 15% taken in one of my neighbour’s gardens.
In the talk I not only show some of my successful images, but also a lot of `how I set it up to obtain the result` type of images. I explain how to attract the wildlife and how to use hides, both proprietary and more natural hides.

Last Week: Flowers in the Hall

It was an absolute delight to see so many H2 members and friends at Much Hadham Village Hall last Thursday evening.

As part of our Natural History theme for this month, it was a real chance for H2 members to let loose their creative side and try lots of different approaches to photographing flowers.

A great evening and really in keeping with the practical fun spirit of H2.

Looking Ahead...

Hello H2 members, now we are getting back to "normal", there are several stimulating items in our programme that are worth headlining.

Importantly, the third round in our club league competition will be upon us before we know it. It is being judged by Sally Sallett; our entries need to be in by 14 March.

Get shooting / choosing / manipulating, guys.

And on Thursday 10 March we have a presentation by Roger Hance. He will be showing us how he takes wildlife images from his garden...so you don't need to go far to get wildlife shots.

And you won't need to leave home to see him because it's a virtual evening

We Would Love To See Members' Successful Images

H2 Photo SHOWCASE is where our club shows its work "to the world". It allows everybody access to see H2's best work.

If members would like the chance to have their best work featured on SHOWCASE, please upload your competition-winners and your commended images to the club's H2 Flickr page. This will allow Warren, Geoff and Jonathan to view them.

Who knows, they may even choose them!

Much Hadham Parish Magazine Needs Our Images

The Editor of our local Parish Magazine would love to see more of our images of Much Hadham and its environs to go on this year's front pages. Images can be as straightforward or as creative as we like to make them.

There are two constraints however: firstly the images need to be in colour and, secondly, they need to be portrait format. It's a great opportunity to see our images in print.

Rules for Competition entries

Prints need to be handed in a week before the competition (but as we meet every other week it is actually 2 weeks in advance), a digital copy of the image must also be submitted via email.

Digital Images need to be submitted 10 days before via email

How to Submit Images via Email

First prepare images following the guidelines for projected images.
Create a new email to dpi@h2photo.org.uk
Set the Subject of the email to the name of the competition from the lists below.
Attach your files and send them

You should get a reply within a few minutes telling you if your entry has been successful.

Example
To enter the Portrait competition we send an email to dpi@h2photo.org.uk with the subject Portrait with our pictures attached to it.
