This week sees the first round of this season's H2 projected digital image (PDI) League competition. Each member can submit up to three PDIs on any subject our hearts' desire.

Going by the quality and number of images entered, our members have been busy with their cameras over the Summer. 

Entries can be straight shots or manipulated shots; the subject matter is 'open', just so long as it is the member's own work.

Our judge this week is Marilyn Steward. Marilyn is a very good friend of H2. Indeed she and her husband, Mike, were long-time members of Harlow Photographic Society, H2's forerunner. It will be a fun (and competitive) evening and we look forward to seeing you there.

Whilst we are talking about competitions, on Thursday 27 October we have our club's Portrait Cup. It will be pleasing to see what our members enter and what the independent judge says about them.

It is a PDI competition and our images need to be in by Sunday 16th October. Please email them to dpi@h2photo.org.uk with the subject Portrait.

We had a portrait session. You will remember the week before we photographed dogs (& Sage the tortoise, of course). This week we shot humans...

We had two models. Both excellent. Both different. We had Derek dressed in original Tudor style and then there was Andrew in pseudo military & cowboy apparel. We have included several images from the evening in this newsletter.

With a choice of three different lighting setups, members enjoyed the challenge, getting out of their 'comfort zone' to organise the lighting, set their cameras correctly...and instruct the models on what poses they wanted.
 

Thankfully, no one said, "Sit...stay...", and nobody was heard saying, "There's a good dog, then" :}

 

Membership payments
For those who haven't yet, it is time to renew our membership in our club. Details for this are in the panel below.

Membership entitles you to enter all our competitions and allows you access to our private Flickr & Whatsapp groups. Importantly, it also pays for speakers, judges and equipment.

The price has been frozen for the last 3 years so it is probably the only thing that isn't affected by inflation this year!
