This Week...

We have a talk by portrait photographer, Lee Sutton. Lee lives and works from the North East of the country and is brought to us by the virtual "magic" of Zoom.

Lee has an absolute plethora of awards after his name (MPSA, DPAGB, BPE5*,LRPS,EFI) and his work is of outstanding quality so it should be a very interesting talk which fits in well with our current theme of portraits.

Please note this is a virtual meeting so stay at home, choose a comfy chair and login to Zoom for a 7.45pm start (login details below).

Portrait Evening Images

We would like to share your images from the portrait evening with our models. So please submit a maximum of six images you have from the evening, no later than the 23rd of this month.

To submit your images please mail them to dpi@h2photo.org.uk with the email subject PortraitEvening.

Epping Forest meet changed

There have been a couple of tweaks to the programme, the most noticeable of which is that the Epping Forest meet is now moved to the 7th of November.

Raw Challenge

Our raw challenge is coming up (hand-in 25th October), so it is time to get downloading the raw images and producing your interpretations of them.

The rules are simple, download the images and try to make something interesting out of them. Now that can be simply developing the individual image to look good, manipulating it or merging multiple images together to make a composite. The world (as my granny used to say) is your lobster.

Last Week...

We had the first of our four digital projected image (DPI) league competitions. This time round it was judged by Cat Humphries. Her constructive critique was based on technical and compositional observations whilst she was careful to appreciate effort then add guidance for us to try again.

Thank you to all members who entered their work; as mentioned before having our work critiqued is an optimal way to improve and personally develop. Well done to the high-scorers; lovely to see so many of our newer members amongst them - congratulations.

External Competitions Begin...

Hello H2 Peeps, life is beginning to stir after lockdown with local clubs again inviting us to compete against them; we have two external competitions coming up early next month.

We have Upminster Camera Club's Windmill Trophy competition on Tuesday 2 November at 7.45pm in Upminster. And the very next evening we have Loughton Camera Club's annual trophy competition on Wednesday 3 November at 8pm at Lopping Hall in Loughton.

Entering external competitions is important in keeping our club standards at the sharp end of creativity and originality, so thank you to all members for showing us your best work on our H2 Flickr page.

As external competition secretary it is fulfilling to click through the two and half thousand or so images now on our Flickr page, and see what creativity and development is going on in our club - long may that continue.

Rules for Competition entries

Prints need to be handed in a week before the competition (but as we meet every other week it is actually 2 weeks in advance), a digital copy of the image must also be submitted via email.

Digital Images need to be submitted 10 days before via email

How to Submit Images via Email

First prepare images following the guidelines for projected images.
Create a new email to dpi@h2photo.org.uk
Set the Subject of the email to the name of the competition from the lists below.
Attach your files and send them

You should get a reply within a few minutes telling you if your entry has been successful.

Example
To enter the Portrait competition we send an email to dpi@h2photo.org.uk with the subject Portrait with our pictures attached to it.
