Summer's Arrived

Welcome to Members and Friends of
H2 Photographic Society

Beauty by Lynne Fletcher
This week it's a trip to Ware

This week, Thursday 17 August, we are out and about with our cameras and tripods. This Thursday we are meeting in Ware, the picturesque Hertfordshire town.

For those members who would like to eat first, we are organising a table at Enoteca Italian Wine Bar and Restaurant. It is located at 8 West Street, Ware, Hertfordshire, SG12 9EE. Its What3Words location is: beast.either.rarely

Given that the nights are "pulling-in" now, we will meet at the restaurant at 5pm; those members who are not eating, we will meet outside the restaurant at 6pm.

Ware has a multitude of photographic opportunities from architectural, street, townscape, as well as landscape with the River Lea running directly through it.

Please can you let Chris know if you intend to come (and whether or not you will be eating), either via email (committee@h2photo.org.uk), or on our club Whatsapp group, so we can get an idea of numbers. Huge thanks to Ian (Capes) for organising.

Look forward to seeing you there, H2ers and, as ever, fingers crossed for photographers' weather...

The Chairman's Summer Challenge
(final few weeks to create your masterpieces, guys)

To encourage and motivate members to get out-&-about with their cameras, Chris has set us this Summer challenge. We want you to take up to 3 shots for each of the following subjects:
  • Flight
  • Summer
  • Time
The rules are: there are no rules - anything goes, so let's see what our clever creative members can produce.

Hand-in will be on Thursday 31 August and we'll have a fun discussion when we meet in person at the hall on Thursday 7 September.

Please email your entries to dpi@h2photo.org.uk with the subject: SummerChallenge

Much Hadham Photographic Archive

Our committee have been approached by a Much Hadham resident with regard to digitising old prints of the locality for cataloguing purposes and gaining a wider audience. Please see their email below.

If any member would like to be involved in this project, let your committee know and we will put you in touch.
" Hi- I live in Much Hadham, and I just recently discovered the Flikr website. It struck me that it might be nice to create a Flikr account that was designed just to capture old photos of Much Hadham that residents may have. I'm guessing lots of people might have photos stuck in their attic, and it would be sad to see them lost. I know (for example) Stephen Ruff collected a lot, and some of these are shown on websites about the old railway station. I just wondered if this was something the Photographic Society might be willing to manage/promote, perhaps in conjunction with Christina at the Forge Museum. I'm asking you because your group may have the skills and capability to make such a thing happen. I don't know if anyone's ever tried this before, or if your group has discussed this before. Another possible idea is QR codes situated around the parish that might link to historic photos, but that would be longer term thinking."

We had several beneficial comments from H2 members at his year's recent AGM. Your committee is listening and we have instigated this panel to give links (and other information) about our club activity that members have requested routine access to.

Here we have a link to the Club's Programme for the entire season. Do check it regularly because it is occasionally amended.

Here we have a link to the Club's DPI League Competition scores.
