NewsFlash - We Can Meet Again

On 27 January the government stated that many of the restrictions imposed due to Covid-19 were being dropped. They are further relaxing regulations on 21 February.

Your committee have been careful to give another couple of weeks or so but, subject to no rise in infections, we are re-starting our hybrid programme with our first face-to-face meeting at Much Hadham Village Hall on Thursday 3 March.

Put the date in your diaries, guys :)

(We do request members not to attend if they have any Covid-19 symptoms, please)

This Week is Kieran Metcalfe

Our speaker this week is Kieran Metcalf, landscape photographer. His landscape work is absolutely stunning and has earned him the position of a Formatt Hitech Ambassador, so if you need any assistance with choosing the right filters for your photography, do drop him a line.

His talk is called Taming the Chaos - Exercising Photographic Control in the Landscape:

Landscape photography relies on two components; the atmospheric conditions, which you cannot control, and the composition of the scene - which you absolutely can.

In it, he discusses the principles of composition which I have learned along the way and now apply in my images.

Last Week, Macros

Last week was an interesting evening on the theme of macros. We started with a presentation by macro guru, Dave Hobbs. Dave took us through a demonstration of photo stacking with lots of hints and tips along the way. This led to a lot of discussion about how to "do macro".

As part of the discussion chris asked a simple question about focusing and reflections which got everyone talking. Then later we used a couple of youtube videos to examine the properties of ranox lenses, reversing rings & extension tubes. all round an interesting evening.

We Would Love To See Members' Successful Images

H2 Photo SHOWCASE is where our club shows its work "to the world". It allows everybody access to see H2's best work.

If members would like the chance to have their best work featured on SHOWCASE, please upload your competition-winners and your commended images to the club's H2 Flickr page. This will allow Warren, Geoff and Jonathan to view them.

Much Hadham Parish Magazine Needs Our Images

The Editor of our local Parish Magazine would love to see more of our images of Much Hadham and its environs to go on this year's front pages. Images can be as straightforward or as creative as we like to make them.

There are two constraints however: firstly the images need to be in colour and, secondly, they need to be portrait format. It's a great opportunity to see our images in print.

Rules for Competition entries

Prints need to be handed in a week before the competition (but as we meet every other week it is actually 2 weeks in advance), a digital copy of the image must also be submitted via email.

Digital Images need to be submitted 10 days before via email

How to Submit Images via Email

First prepare images following the guidelines for projected images.
Create a new email to dpi@h2photo.org.uk
Set the Subject of the email to the name of the competition from the lists below.
Attach your files and send them

You should get a reply within a few minutes telling you if your entry has been successful.

Example
To enter the Portrait competition we send an email to dpi@h2photo.org.uk with the subject Portrait with our pictures attached to it.
